The Community Backyard collaborates with agencies and professionals to identify gaps in mental health and substance abuse services for the youth of Orange and Chatham Counties and to develop best practice services to fill those gaps so all youth can thrive in their home communities.
Our work is focused on several specific goals:
- ASSESSMENT:
Identify and continually prioritize gaps in mental health and substance abuse services.
- EDUCATION and TRAINING:
Provide education and training for Orange and Chatham County professionals and families on research-based, outcome oriented, and culturally sensitive state of the art services.
- COLLABORATION:
Communicate and foster partnerships with stakeholders to build a community-wide commitment to children with mental health and substance abuse needs.
- ADVOCACY:
Advocate with local and state officials to create policy that ensures the safety and well being of children and communities.
- SUSTAINABILITY:
Raise funds from public and private sources to support service development and the ongoing efforts of CBY.
